Centers and programs in the Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics support our mission of promoting advanced study in the sciences and mathematics.
The Towson University Biodiversity Center (TUBC) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded project aimed at preservation and consolidation of the existing natural history collections at Towson University. This center is organized around its two largest, most extensive and oldest collections; the botanical and entomological collections.
The Urban Environmental Biogeochemistry Laboratory is a collaborative effort between several departments that is dedicated to studying environmental issues associated with urbanization.
The STEM Education Center is the focal point for research efforts, curriculum development, teacher education, and pedagogical reform designed to enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics, science and technology in grades K – 16.
The Women in Science Program seeks to enhance the enrollment and retention of female students in the sciences through interactive teaching methods and effective mentoring. An additional goal is to enhance recruitment, mentoring, retention and visibility of female faculty in the natural, physical, mathematical and computing sciences with an emphasis on those fields where women are underrepresented.
