Jess & Mildred Fisher College of Science & Mathematics

Dr. Robert Hammell and Dean David Vanko The second recipient of the 2013 Excellence in Teaching Award came to Towson University about 12 years ago and has also been designated by peers and students as an excellent teacher. Since his arrival he has taught 11 courses with nearly a perfect split between graduate and undergraduate courses. From his cumulative course evaluations his average score is a 4.8/5.0 with 95% of students ranking him 4.53 or higher.

Our recipient's excellence in the classroom is supported by other measures as well. Qualitative comments from students indicate that the awardee was very professional, informative, and great at explaining unclear topics. One student indicated that the awardee "challenged us to think and analyze the subject matter, yet he understood its complexity and taught it in a way to prevent us from being lost." Finally, according to another student-"he rocks."

The peer evaluations are superb and also indicated the excellence of the recipient's teaching.

The awardee received his B.S. degree in Business Data Processing from Arkansas State University, an M.S. in Computer Science from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Wright State University.

Please join me in offering congratulations to Dr. Robert Hammell from the Department of Computer and Information Sciences.
