Computer Science (M.S.)
This degree program provides a comprehensive approach to advanced study in computer science and includes 33 semester hours of course work. Students may choose a thesis option or a project option with additional course work. The program includes study in at least two of the following six areas: software engineering, artificial intelligence, compiler theory and design, database system design and management, computer operating systems, and data communication and network management. In addition, the student may choose to specialize by choosing one of the following tracks:
- Computer Security Track
- E-Commerce Track
- Software Engineering Track.

Environmental Science (M.S.)
Environmental Science (Certificate Program)
The Graduate Program in Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary program which focuses on environmental issues and problems faced by metropolitan areas. The program is for individuals who are in the environmental work force, are looking to enter the environmental work force, or who are public school teachers who wish to expand their knowledge of environmental sciences of metropolitan areas so they can teach in this specialty. There are four areas of concentration in the program: Water Resource Management and Assessment, Biological Resource Management, Wetland Assessment and Management and Environmental Spatial Analysis. Program graduates are well prepared to work in the environmental consulting area, education, industry, federal, state and county environmental agencies, and nonprofit environmental groups.
Students wishing to receive a certificate must complete a minimum of 18 credits of graduate work as follows: A minimum of two core courses and additional electives, selected in consultation with the advisor, from one concentration. No more than three 500 level courses can be counted towards the certificate.

Forensic Science (M.S.)
This is a molecular biology based M.S. degree which focuses on Forensic DNA analysis. The program has the support of and benefits from the wide variety of talents of faculty members of the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics, particularly those in the Departments of Chemistry, Biological Sciences & Mathematics. This program provides advanced education in the scientific and laboratory problem solving skills necessary for success in today's modern forensic laboratories. The program is designed for students who are interested in being forensic scientists. The program is also designed to meet the professional development needs of current forensic scientists now employed in Maryland.

Applied and Industrial Mathematics (M.S )
The program, requiring a total of ten courses and a minimum of 30 semester hours, is intended to prepare individuals in areas of mathematics that deal with the problems typically encountered in business and industry. It provides students with a broad knowledge in applied mathematics with an emphasis on areas such as mathematical modeling, numerical methods and scientific computation, statistics, operations research and spectral analysis. Numerical, computational and algorithmic approaches to problem solving are stressed throughout. A unique feature is the requirement of a successful completion of a two-semester internship with one of the department's established industrial partner's or at the student's place of employment. Students choose to specialize in of of the following two tracks:
- Differential Equations/Optimization Track
- Applied Statistics/Mathematical Finance

Mathematics Education (M.S.)
This program, for certified secondary-level mathematics teachers, offers the opportunity for study in higher areas of mathematics, with additional work in education and mathematics education. A strong faculty in mathematics and mathematics education will guide students through coursework and research. It is expected that graduates of the program will become leaders in school mathematics within their schools and excel as supervisors or curriculum developers. The program consists of 36 credits and can be taken either full-time or part-time. Students choose to complete their master's degree in on of the following two tracks:
- Middle School Track
- Secondary School Track
