The minor programs in Chinese, French, German, Italian or Spanish provide students majoring in other disciplines with the educational language background necessary to broaden and enhance their career opportunities. All minors must earn a minimum 18 units (6 courses) in the target language. Both 301 and 302 courses are required plus 12 units of 200, 300 and/or 400-level courses. Elementary (101/102) courses do not count toward the minor. All Foreign Languages minors are assigned an advisor in the target language and receive advising each semester. Students may transfer up to 6 units (2 language courses) toward the minor. Students may also complete up to 6 units through study abroad or the Maryland state inter-institutional (BSEP) program. All minors must complete at least 6 upper-level (300/400) units (2 upper-level language courses) on-campus at Towson University.
