The Honors Graduation Convocation is the Honors College’s celebration of the accomplishments of our graduating seniors. Held each May, the event provides a venue in which we individually recognize the Honors College graduates in a relaxed atmosphere that includes family and friends as well as faculty and staff members.There is no fee for the Honors College event. Graduating seniors are presented with the Honors medallion to be worn at Towson University Commencement Ceremony, a certificate of completion of the program, and a gift from the Honors College. A reception follows the ceremony.

What is the difference between Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony and Convocation?
In the Honors College we have a separate, more intimate celebration on the first Saturday in May. It is an opportunity for graduates to be honored for their accomplishments and recognized by the faculty for their hard work and diligence. Graduating seniors are presented with the Honors medallion to be worn at the Towson University Commencement Ceremony, a certificate of completion of the program, and a gift from the Honors College. A reception follows the ceremony.
The Commencement Ceremony is Towson University’s recognition of your graduation from your academic college. Scheduled to take place between May 22 – 24, 2013, each college will hold a Commencement Ceremony where you will be recognized for this accomplishment.
How do I apply for graduation? What does that mean? You need to apply for Honors College Graduation by April 1, 2013 as well as graduation from the University itself (application deadline was January 20, 2013).
Please complete and submit the Honors College Graduation Application to the Honors College Office, Stephens Hall 302. There is no fee for the Honors College event. Graduates unable to attend the Honors College Graduation Convocation may pick up their medallion in the Honors College office the Monday following the Convocation ceremony.
Where is Convocation held?
Convocation will be held in the Chesapeake Rooms in the University Union. Please see a map of the area.
Who is invited to attend Honors College Convocation?
Honors College students who graduated in December 2013 and Honors College students graduating in May 2014 are invited to attend. Please complete and submit the response form by April 1, 2014.
Can my friends and family attend Convocation? Do guests need tickets for the Convocation ceremony?
You and your guests (2 maximum) are invited to attend Convocation and the reception that follows. Guests do not need tickets for Convocation.
How do I RSVP for myself and my guests?

What if I cannot attend Convocation?
Graduates unable to attend the Honors College Graduation Convocation may pick up their medallion and certificate in the Honors College Office.
How long is the Convocation ceremony?
The Convocation ceremony will last less than two hours. Please plan to stay for the entire event.
What should I wear to Convocation?
Graduates are encouraged to dress in ‘business professional’ attire for Convocation. Please be careful when choosing footwear. Because you will be walking across an elevated stage, it is advised to break in and roughen the soles of new shoes prior to the ceremony.
When should I arrive at the University Union? Where do we meet?
You should arrive in the Chesapeake Rooms in the University Union no later than 1:30 p.m.
Where should I park?
You should park in the University Union garage. No parking permit is required for the Union Garage on weekends.
Will I get my diploma at Convocation?
You will receive an Honors College certificate, medallion and gift at Convocation. Your Towson University diploma will be mailed to you following the Commencement Ceremony.
How will I know if I’ve received Latin honors? Latin Honors will be awarded by degree-granting college to the top ten percent of the undergraduate students. Eligibility will be determined based on the calculated grade point average of students final 60 units completed at Towson University. Please note that due to Latin Honors being percentage based, recipients will not be recognized at commencement. This designation will appear on the diploma and transcript after the whole class has been graduated.
How can I order graduation invitations or announcements for my family and friends?
The University Store invites graduates to participate in its "GRAD FAIR" to order graduation regalia, diploma frames, rings, announcements, and other graduation merchandise. Representatives from Oak Hall Cap & Gown, Exemplar Rings, and the University Store will be available during the GRAD FAIR to provide personal assistance. The GRAD FAIR will be held in the University Union lobby, in front of the University Store, on the following dates: Thursday February 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Friday February 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Saturday February 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m.
