The Honors College is dedicated to providing their students with internship opportunities.

The Washington Center

  • Internships in federal government offices, local non-profit organizations, and area businesses are available during the fall, spring, and summer terms. Students are eligible to receive up to 12 credits, and scholarships are available, especially to Maryland residents.
  • The regular deadline for fall programs is June 14, 2013, and the competitive deadline for spring programs is October 16, 2013.

Capital Semester in Washington, DC

  • Participants will earn 12 credits from George Mason University, live in furnished apartments in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, and are guaranteed internships with federal agencies, think tanks, government affairs offices, policy groups, embassies, NGO’s, congressional offices, media outlets and nonprofits.
  • The fall 2013 deadline is June 1 and there is generous scholarship funding still available. Please contact Dana Faught at dfaught@tfas.org or 202-986-0384 with any questions; she will work with you to help you complete your application.

The National Aquarium

  • A variety of internships in animal care, community affairs, education, digital marketing, and many other fields are available at the National Aquarium. The National Aquarium invites applications from Honors College students.

G. Krug & Son Ironworks & Museum

  • A variety of internships in museum curation, research, oral history, archives, marketing, communication, web site design, and photography are available at the G. Krug & Son Ironworks & Museum in Baltimore, MD. Contact Museum Coordinator and Honors College alumnus Patrick Cutter at museum@gkrugandson.com for more information.

Casey Cares Foundation

  • The Casey Cares Foundation is seeking summer interns for students that are interested in learning and contributing to a growing non-profit group. The internship may be ideal for students interested in careers in social services, business communications, public relations, graphic design, and fundraising.

Cherry Hill Oral History Project

  • Prof. Shannon Simpson, Research and Instruction Librarian for Cook Library, is looking for an Honors College intern to assit with the Cherry Hill Oral History Project. Interns could assist Prof. Simpson with collecting information from Cherry Hill residents and constructing educational films and web sites.
  • Internships are available in spring and fall semesters.

Hussman Center for Adults with Autism

  • Gain valuable experience working one-on-one and in groups with adults with autism at the Hussman Center (part of the TU Institute for Well-Being).
  • Internships are available throughout the academic year for up to 6 credits, depending on the number of hours per week.

Department of Energy (DOE) Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship

  • The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) program encourages undergraduate students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences, under the guidance of laboratory staff scientists or engineers, on projects supporting the DOE mission.
  • Paid internships, including a weekly stipend and support for travel and housing, are for 10 weeks during the Summer Term (May to August timeframe).
  • The deadline for 2014 programs is January 10, 2014.
