Honors College Study Abroad
The TU Honors College encourages all Honors College students to study abroad during their undergraduate career. Students can earn Honors credit for their study abroad experience by completing a study abroad project. Honors students may receive 3 units toward their Honors seminar requirements for summer or Minimester study abroad or 6 units for a full semester abroad (fall or spring).
Requirements:
An Honors College student choosing to complete an Honors College Study Abroad Project as an Honors course option, must:
- Complete, with passing grades, all courses enrolled in during the time abroad
- Submit at least 6 (preferably digital) photographs suitable for the Honors College’s study abroad web pages, including pictures of the student in the country in which s/he is studying (need to complete release form)
- Write and submit a reflective paper (see Reflection Paper Guidelines)
- Present a fifteen-minute talk describing experiences abroad following return to Towson University including stories about your six photographs, a description of the program in which you participated, the application process, the class you took and how it differed from Towson classes, and you should discuss what it was like living in a foreign county, adjustments you made, challenges you faced, food, culture, news, and anything else of interest to you.
Deadlines:
Before leaving Towson University: Students must submit the Honors Study Abroad Approval Form at least one month before leaving for their study abroad experience.
Upon Returning to Towson University: You will need to provide a transcript by the end of the first month after your return to the Honors College. Also due to the Honors College office at this time are the photos and paper (described previously).
