Occupational Therapy Professional Master's Program (M.S.)

(Entry-level program for students who are not currently Occupational Therapists)

The Master's Degree Program for non-occupational therapists (students with Bachelor's degrees but who did not complete an accredited entry-level professional program in occupational therapy) consist of a total of 59 hours of Master's Degree Prerequisite courses and 36 hours of required and elective graduate courses with or without thesis (a total of 95 credit hours of course work).

Plan of Study

Students spend six months of the three year program in full-time internships (Level II Fieldwork*) where they apply the theoretical knowledge and skills appropriate to an entry-level qualified professional occupational therapist. Most sites for these three-month internships are in the mid-Atlantic area, but arrangements also can be made in other locations if openings are available.

Application deadline: As of  January 2009, due date is February 1 for Fall admission.

* Note: All Level II Fieldwork is completed within 24 months of completion of academic course preparation.

A maximum of 6 term hours of "C" or "C+" grades in prerequisite courses are allowed. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout prerequisite coursework.

Academic Standards for Graduate Program

  • A maximum of six term hours of  "C" or "C+" grades in graduate courses are allowed for graduation. All students must complete all required and elective graduate courses.

  • Students admitted conditionally to the College of Graduate and Extended Education must receive a minimum GPA of 3.0 for their first three graduate courses.

  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for entry into graduate-level course work. A minimum GPA of 3.0 must be maintained throughout graduate course work and is required for graduation. 

  • All students must complete OCTH 880 Graduate Project with a minimum grade of  "B."
