Towson OPportunities in STEM

Four TOPS girls in a line

A Message to Prospective Students

The TOPS Program is a unique opportunity available to incoming freshmen majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at Towson University. Students selected to participate in TOPS may be eligible to receive the benefits of:

  • Scholarship awards of $1000 a year with the possibility of renewal for at least four years.
  • A built in peer group with guidance from upper classman to help navigate the adjustment to college life and academic expectations.
  • Cohort registration that places other TOPS students in the same classes making the creation of study groups a breeze.
  • A study area and computer lab available only to select STEM students. Conveniently located in the science building, this is a great place to study or work on group projects.
  • Living in the STEM Residential Learning Community (Residential Students Only).
  • Becoming familiar with all aspects of college life during the week-long, residential TOPS Summer Experience.

We look forward to hearing from you with any questions or comments you have about the process. For more information, contact us at TOPS@towson.edu.

"TOPS has taught me that who you thought you were, isn't going to be all that you are. You have so much more to learn and experience. It also helped me to understand that no matter where you go or what you decide to do, you will not be alone. There will always be someone to help you or to guide you through."
