Academic Advising Center

Advising SessionAs a Towson University student you have an academic adviser to help you make decisions that affect your progress toward your degree. You must meet with your adviser every fall and spring term before you register for the next term’s courses to discuss your educational plan.

The Academic Advising Center coordinates advising at Towson University, maintaining a staff of professional advisers and working with academic departments to recruit faculty for the First-Year Experience (FYE) program.

If you are a freshman, you will participate in FYE, a year-long program to orient you to the university and its resources, enhancing your educational experience. Your adviser will be a professional adviser, professional Student Affairs staff member, or a faculty member who has completed the Faculty Institute in Advising. That FYE adviser will be assigned to you for the year.

If you are not a freshman, you will participate in the Intentional Advising program, and your adviser will be a professional adviser (open majors) or a faculty adviser in your major field.

You will need to declare a major by the time you accrue 60 units.
