Undergraduate Academic Advising Center

The mission of the Undergraduate Academic Advising Center (UAAC) is to ensure that informed, effective, and easily accessible academic advising, which addresses individual needs and interests, is available to every undergraduate student at Towson University. The Academic Advising Center coordinates advising at Towson University, maintaining a staff of professional advisers and working with academic departments to recruit faculty for the First-Year Experience (FYE) program.

If you are a freshman, you will participate in FYE, a year-long program to orient you to the university and its resources, enhancing your educational experience. Your adviser will be a professional adviser, professional Student Affairs staff member, or a faculty member who has completed the Faculty Institute in Advising. That FYE adviser will be assigned to you for the year.

If you are not a freshman, you will participate in the Academic Advising Program, and your adviser will be a professional adviser (open majors) or a faculty adviser in your major field.

You will need to declare a major by the time you accrue 60 units.

Two Year In-State Community College Four Year and Out-of -State Universities	The Articulation System for Maryland Colleges and Universities (Artysys) will provide you with the course equivalencies between Maryland community colleges and all Maryland 4-year institutions (two year) and between Towson University and other four year universities both in-state and out-of-state. 	Still Not Sure About a Career Direction? Towson University students now have access to a free career matching application.   Compass is an online assessment tool that measures reaction to visual images and makes career recommendations based on personality and preference data.   It’s fun, quick and easy!
	Focusing on exploration and discovery, this course introduces students to the academic expectations for college-level work and to the intellectual, communication and collaborative skills needed for academic success. 	The National Student Exchange (NSE) Program allows undergraduate students to exchange to member universities in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Towson students pay their normal tuition and fees to Towson and room/board fees to the host campus.
