Planning Event Parking

Departments and event coordinators must coordinate parking arrangements through Parking Services for any event that will require ten (10) or more parking spaces, whether or not there is an associated parking fee and/or the event is being held during non peak hours, including weekends.  An “Event Parking Request Form” must be completed and submitted to Parking Services prior to committing to an event date or location. Request forms must be submitted at least 10 business days prior to the event and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. 

In order to accommodate campus community members, guest parking for events will be limited during peak times.  Please become familiar with the following guidelines when planning events:

  • Parking availability is limited to 400 guests during peak times (Mon. - Thurs., 6 a.m. - 5 p.m.) for all events. Event parking will generally be provided at the West Village garage, the Towson Center lots, or lot 24, which is near the Administration Building.
  • While event coordinators can indicate their preferred area, Parking Services will determine the parking location for event attendees. Every effort will be made to accommodate the preferred location.
  • For groups assigned to a location that is not close to the event venue, participants may ride the campus shuttles or the group can arrange for charter buses to transport attendees.  Please click here for charter details.
  • Paid visitor spaces will be limited; please consider using department codes to accommodate a small number of visitors (up to 10). Please be aware of restrictions with visitor codes; in particular, they can't be issued to faculty/staff or students.

At its discretion, Parking and Transportation Services will determine the parking availability for the event. If parking is available, the department will be notified once a request form is received and processed. Events that may be considered unsafe may require approval from Environment Health and Safety and university legal counsel. 

Please remember that there is more flexibility to accommodate larger groups and utilize other locations during non peak hours and on weekends.

Departments will be contacted and provided a Parking Event reference number and an estimate within 3 business days of submitting the form. If you have not received this information within 3 business days, please follow up with the Event Planner at Parking and Transportation Services to verify that the request was received.
