  • Why were the policies changed?

The parking program had evolved over the years based on special requests and exceptions.  In order to handle expected growth, maintain a safe environment and have an equitable process, the parking policies needed to be revised and formalized.

  • Why do guest and visitors now have to pay for parking?

Parking is a self support, which means the revenue collected from permit holders is the primary source of income for building and maintaining parking facilities and running the operation.  If all parkers do not pay a fee to use campus parking resources, permit holders would be forced to pay a higher rate.

  • Why have fine amounts increased?

The university has a responsibility to maintain a safe environment and help ensure spaces are available for permit holders.  Fines are set at a level to discourage people from parking improperly.
