1) When and where does the Service Awards Ceremony take place?

The Service Awards Breakfast and Ceremony will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at SECU Arena. All award recipients and non-recipients need a ticket to attend.  No tickets are available at the door.

2) How can I view the list of Service Award recipients?

We will provide a link to the list below.

3)  What is on the menu?

Danishes; Muffins; Bagels with Cream Cheese, Butter & Jam; Fresh Fruit Salad; Baked Egg Casserole; Bacon; Sausage; Roasted Country Potatoes; French Toast with Butter & Maple Syrup; Bone in Ham served with Dijon; Coffee; Hot Tea; Apple & Orange Juices.

  • Dietary needs can be accommodated upon request when you pick up your ticket.

4) How do I order my award?

Award recipients will be sent an email to their Towson University account with directions on how to place an order in mid January. Three years ago, we began a new process in which ALL awards (gifts) get mailed directly to the recipients' homes. You will not have to carry it from the ceremony back to your office or find a way to get it home. 

  • You will still receive your certificate during the ceremony as in past years. 

Orders must be made by midnight, Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Service award recipients not placing orders by that date will not receive a gift. No default gift order will be placed as in years past.


5) I’m an Award Recipient. How do I get my ticket(s) for the event?

Award recipients will be sent details on how to receive tickets.

  • Award Recipients with 25 years of service or more are entitled to receive two complimentary

                   tickets; one for them and one for a guest.

  • Award Recipients with 5 - 20 years of service are entitled to receive one complimentary ticket for them to attend the event.

6) I’m not an Award Recipient, but I’d still like to attend the event. How do I get a ticket?

A general campus distribution of remaining tickets will be conducted in April.

8) It seems that I am receiving my service award in year 6, 16, 21, 26, etc.? Why is that?

At Towson University, we calculate milestone service years for eligible faculty and staff that have COMPLETED their 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc. years of service beginning January 1st through December 31st of their respective milestone year. 

Celebrating the Annual Service Awards Breakfast and Ceremony after December 31st allows recipients to complete their milestone and receive their award in the early Spring of the following year.

This also allows the staff of the Office of Human Resources time to facilitate the gift ordering, certificate printing, and the planning logistics time needed to facilitate a breakfast and ceremony for the over 300 recipients, campus leaders, and guests that attend.
