ACCESSING TOWSON E-MAIL ON A MAC

Below are some options to access your Towson e-mail on a Mac. Microsoft Exchange is the product that provides e-mail services to faculty and staff at the university. Using the Outlook options below provide the best compatibility with the Microsoft Exchange to access e-mail, contacts, calendar, and tasks.

1.  Outlook for Macs

Microsoft Outlook for Macs is included in Microsoft's Office 2011 for Macs. Outlook provides access to your Towson e-mail, calendar, contacts, and tasks.   For more information about Office 2011, see the: Office 2011 FAQs .

To setup Outlook 2011 to work on a Mac with your Towson e-mail , see the instructions at: Microsoft Outlook for Macs.

Outlook Personal Folders (PST): if you run into space limitations with quota in your Towson e-mail account, you have an option to create PST personal folders on your Towson H: drive to store e-mail in. However, with Outlook 2011, the only method to create PST files is by using Virtual Workspace.  For more information on PST files, see: Using Outlook Personal Folder (PST) Files.

2.   Outlook Web App (OWA) ( https://outlook.towson.edu )

(on or off-campus, most Web browsers work)

Outlook Web App (OWA) allows you to access your Towson e-mail by browsing to: https://outlook.towson.edu. OWA provides access to Outlook e-mail, calendar, and contacts.using a Web browser from anywhere you have a browser and Internet access. No additional software has to be installed. OWA does not support PST personal folders.

3. Outlook on Virtual Workspace (VW) ( https://virtualworkspace.towson.edu )

(on or off-campus, works best with Firefox Web browser)

Virtual Workspace (VW) provides access to all components of the Microsoft Outlook e-mail and calendaring application. VW enables you to create and use PST personal folders in Outlook, on your H: drive. You can access VW from anywhere you have a browser and internet access. VW requires the one time installation of the Citrix web client, for more information see the VW Web page.

4.  Mac Mail

Mac Mail is included on Mac computers but is not a standard e-mail application at the university. The Outlook options above are standard e-mail applications and supported by the Office of Technology Services (OTS). You can configure Mac Mail to synchronize with your Towson e-mail; however, assistance from OTS is limited to the instructions provided below.
