You are required by law to either pay the citation fine within 30 calendar days or request an appeal within 25 calendar days of the violation; otherwise you forfeit your right for review. Failure to resolve a citation within the time allotted may result in the fine being transferred to the Bursar’s Office, vehicle impoundment, referral to the State Central Collection Unit, or referral to the State Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).
If the fine is forwarded to the MVA, a flag will be placed against your vehicle registration record. The flag will prevent you from renewing your registration or transferring your plates. The MVA also assesses an administrative fee for each flag on your record. This fee is in addition to an fines or administrative fees imposed by Towson University, and must be paid directly to the MVA.
