Permit Rates

Faculty/Staff Permit Rates 2011 - 2012

Faculty/Staff permit rates are based on annual salary, as of July 2011.  If an individual is hired in the middle of the year, their expected annual income will be used.   Permits will be pro-rated each week, beginning in September.  Permits and gate control devices remain the property of Towson University and must be returned if an employee separates from the university.  Please contact the Auxiliary Services Business Office regarding permit cost once pro-rating has begun.

Payroll deduction amounts are for the full permit rate over 20 pay periods.  The first payroll deduction will appear in the September paycheck.  The cut off date for current employees to sign up for payroll deduction is

August 16, 2011.  

Rates below reflect a 10% increase over 2010-2011 rates.

Hybrid Permit Program - 50% Discount

As part of the environmental initiatives associated with Towson University, Parking & Transportation Services offers a Hybrid Vehicle Permit Program.  Eligible faculty, staff and students are able to obtain an annual parking permit at half of the applicable rate. Below is a link to the application and policies associated with the Hybrid Vehicle Permit Program.

 

Rate Designation Policy for New Employees:

Parking rates are based on the prior years income (July through June).  Changes (increases or decreases) in income throughout a year, may not affect the parking rate code for the coming year. 

  • Regular Staff - Annualized base salary (Overtime and off load payments are not included)
  • Regular Faculty - Chair stipend is included; off load payments are not included
  • Lecturers - Annualized salary based on contract amount(s)
  • Part Time Faculty - Annualized salary based on contract amount(s)
  • Contingent Staff:
    • HOURLY - Annualized salary based on hourly rate and FTE on contract(s)
    • FLAT RATE - Total of contract amounts

Miscellaneous Permit Rates and Fees 2011 - 2012

AVI tags will be provided with F/S permits and may be used from one year to the next provided the employee has a valid F/S parking permit.  AVI tags remain the property of Towson University and must be returned upon separation from the university.  Individuals who do not return the AVI tag will be charged the replacement fee.  The cost of the original AVI device will be included in the price of the permit.  Replacements for malfunctioning tags are available at no charge - tag must be returned to receive a free replacement. 

Most miscellaneous permits listed below are not valid in Faculty/Staff lots.  Please contact the Auxiliary Business Office for information regarding the type of permit you are eligible for and where the permit is valid.

  • Replacement fee for an AVI tag that is not returned, lost or stolen - $20
  • Renewal fee for current holders of an AVI device - No charge
  • Refunds for AVI tags - no refunds due to the cost being included in the permit rates

   

Lost or stolen permits are replaced at a cost of $25.  Replacement fees are non-refundable.

Refunds

Refunds are available for annual and semester permits.  Short term permits are not eligible for refunds.   Faculty/Staff who no longer need a parking permit may be eligible for a pro-rated refund through the end of March.  Please ensure you return the AVI transponder in order to avoid being charged a replacement fee.  In order to be eligible for a refund, individuals must complete a cancellation card and submit it to the Auxiliary Service Business Office located in the University Union.  The refund amount will be determined by the date the cancellation is received.  Please contact the Auxiliary Services Business Office, 410-704-2284, for more details.
