How do I order University Stationery online?

You can order university stationary by using the link in the left column of this page.

How much will my printing cost?
Please contact Diane Sullivan (410-704-2010) for a cost estimate, or see the price list below.

What do I need to provide to Printing Services?
You need to provide a completed Printing Services Work Request, a hard copy proof with color separations after all additions and corrections have been made, and a disk containing all document files and fonts.

What needs to be included on the disk?
The disk should include the final version of the document (Inclusion of previous versions or other documents on the same disk can cause costly errors), all linked graphics in their final form and all fonts (include both printer and screen fonts)

What electronic file formats do you support?
• Media: Flash Drive, CD/DVD, and 3.5 Floppy
• Publishing Software: Quark Express and Adobe InDesign

(PC files from MS Word, MS Publisher, etc. can be sent directly to our High Speed Digital Production Publisher or to our Full Color Copier.  See the Direct Digital Printing Instructions to download our Print Drivers

• Illustration/Graphics Software: Adobe Illustrator, Freehand and Adobe PhotoShop
• Platform: Macintosh
(Some PC files can be translated from matching software versions, however, font differences may result in unreliable printing and reflow of text)

How can I reduce printing costs and expedite completion time?
• Format all booklet documents in Printer Spreads
• Avoid linked text boxes
• Edit graphics in the program in which they were created
• When possible, use adobe fonts
(True Type and third party fonts can be unreliable when translated by a RIP)
• Avoid using stylized or menu fonts
(These features are designed for laser printers and may not output correctly to film)
• Convert fonts in eps files to outlines or paths
• Apply a trap of .2 in layout programs and .4 in illustration programs
• Delete all unused colors in your files
• Check to make sure that spot colors are not defined as process separations
• Make sure spot color names are consistent for all elements within the documents
(Check separations to be sure that all elements will print)
• Prepare document with the press sheet size in mind
(8.5 x 11 or 11 x 17)
• When using duotones, set screen frequency for 133 lines and angles for 45 and 75 degrees respectively
• If a box contains a black and white picture and a spot color background, set the spot color's screen color to "magenta"
• If a job has a landscape orientation on one side and a portrait orientation on the other, specify the proper orientation for two-sided printing
• Check "Picture Usage" utility in Quark Express to determine if any images have been modified or are missing before submitting the disk
• Allow 5/16" border for press gripper on all pages
• Include designer's name and phone number in case there are any problems or questions.
