What do I need to
provide to Printing Services?
You need to provide a completed Printing Services Work Request, and the electronic files including any linked images and fonts.
What electronic file formats do you support?
• Media: Flash/Thumb Drive, CD/DVD, and 3.5 Floppy
• Publishing Software: Adobe InDesign, Quark Express or Press Quality PDF.
(PC files from MS Word, MS Publisher, etc. can be submitted via Printing Services' Web-To-Print Ordering System)
• Illustration/Graphics Software: Adobe Illustrator
and Adobe PhotoShop
• Platform: Macintosh
How can I reduce printing costs and expedite completion time?
• When possible, use adobe fonts
(True Type and third party fonts can be unreliable when translated by
a RIP)
• Avoid using stylized or menu fonts
(These features are designed for laser printers and may not output correctly
to film)
• Convert fonts in eps files to outlines or paths
• Delete all unused colors in your files
• Check to make sure that spot colors are not defined as process
separations
• For 2-Color Offset Print jobs, make sure spot color names are consistent for all elements within
the documents and check separations to be sure that all elements will print correctly.
• Prepare document with the print sheet size in mind and extend copy by 0.125" for bleeds.
• If a job has a landscape orientation on one side and a portrait
orientation on the other, specify the proper orientation for two-sided
printing
• If you specify a print sheet size, include an outside border.
• Include designer's name and phone number in case there are any problems
or questions.
