Campus Gateway

$11 million

This project includes the development of a new campus gateway off of Towsontown Boulevard near Burdick Hall. Marked by brick pillars and a large, open plaza, the gateway will serve as a major campus access route, giving Towson University's campus the main entrance that it's always lacked. The gateway is designed to give campus visitors a sense of arrival and serve as an entry point for the entire campus community. Construction on the gateway began in early 2011 and is expected to conclude in winter 2012.

Public Safety Building

$7 million

When it opens in August 2012, the two-story Public Safety Building will contain office and support space for Towson University's Office of Public Safety, which includes the Police Department and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. The 25,000 square foot building will be located east of General Services and is accessible via the new access road from Towsontown Boulevard.

Richmond/Newell Renovation

$20.5 million

The renovation of Newell and Richmond--the university's oldest residence halls--will include the complete restoration of the buildings' exteriors, interior renovations to increase the buildings' accessibility, and replacement of the buildings' aging mechanical and electrical systems. When the renovated buildings open in August 2012, they will house the same number of student beds, but feature an improved aesthetic and better accommodations.

Tiger Arena

$68 million

This project includes the construction of a companion arena that will connect to the Towson Center. The addition will contain 5,000 seats, state-of-the-art video screens, entertainment suites/boxes and expanded lobbies. Construction on the approximately 90,000 square foot addition is slated to begin in the summer of 2011, with the building open in 2013. The Towson Center will remain open during construction.
