MAIL SERVICES
Helpful Tips for Students and Parents
- Do not send cash in the mail;
use a check or a postal money order.
- Anything of value should be
sent registered or certified. This applies to letters and parcels
as well. United Parcel Service, Federal Express, DHL and others
provide routine tracking methods and insurance for their shipments.
- Purchase insurance when shipping
valuables so you are protected against loss or damage. Some
carriers include insurance with their delivery charge.
- Medications can be phoned into
a local pharmacy. Ask your student to check for a preferable
pharmacy nearby the campus. If you must send medication please
remember rule #2.
- Time sensitive material should
be sent by land or air carriers using guaranteed overnight or
other time frames. Most of these services also provide tracking.
- Registration for student mailboxes
can be accomplished at student orientation or by visiting
the university post office customer service window. Mailboxes
are guaranteed only to university residents.
- Remember to bring your student
ID when you claim packages or lose your combination to your
mailbox.
