Training Seminars & Workshops

Financial Services offers a variety of small group seminars and one-on-one individual sessions to help employees learn how to successfully complete TU financial processes. This interactive training focuses on how to improve quality, productivity and communication while keeping time constraints in mind. As seminars are scheduled, information on dates & times will be listed below under the description of each presentation and the link to the registration form will become active.

PeopleSoft Financials 

Do you need help with monitoring your department's budget? PeopleSoft Financials provides up-to-the-minute information on budget balances, open commitments, invoice payments, expenditure categories, budget transfers, interdepartmental invoices, and more! The training is focused on learning to run reports and getting to the "bottom line" of your budget.

Accounts Payable

Learn about your purchasing options and spending authority; how to process invoices and vouchers and do payment approvals; and understand the different special payment types, office supply contracts, and restricted purchases.

Travel Card Program – Diner’s Master Card 

This one-hour workshop will provide information on all the benefits available using the university’s travel credit card program. Applications for this program will also be available during the workshop. All faculty/staff, full-time, part-time, regular and contingent are eligible to participate in the travel card program.

Payroll's Student Employment Workshop 

This seminar is designed to aid faculty and staff involved in the hiring and/or supervising of student employees. The focus is on the actual "how-to" processes of interviewing and hiring a student employee, clearing the student employee through the Payroll Office, submitting timesheets, and ensuring the student receives paychecks.

ProCard Reallocation & Reconciliation System 

This is a "how-to" session that helps attendees learn to use the Web interface database program to access VISA charges, use the online system to make department and account (subcode) changes on purchases, reconcile transactions on VISA statements, and produce a printout of transactions that can be used as your permanent log. Contact procard@towson.edu to arrange for individual or group sessions.

 

Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) 

The UBIT course will supply participants with a basic understanding of what constitutes unrelated business income.  Topics that will be covered include: what activities can be classified as a trade or business, the difference between tax exempt and taxable income in the university setting, how the mission of the school affects classification of income, and the exclusions of income that are allowed under the UBIT definition.
