Registration for Seminars & Workshops

Financial Services offers a variety of small group seminars and one-on-one sessions to help University faculty and staff learn how to successfully complete TU financial processes and improve productivity. As seminars are scheduled, information on dates & times will be listed below under the description of each presentation and the link to the registration form will become active.

PeopleSoft Financials 

These workshops provide up-to-the-minute information on budget balances, open commitments, invoice payments, expenditure categories, budget transfers, interdepartmental requests, and more!  Do you have questions? Need additional training assistance? Contact   PSFTraining@towson.edu

Introduction to PeopleSoft Financials and Department Budget Reporting - for New Users

This introductory workshop is required for all those who are new to PeopleSoft Financials and who need access to their department budgets.  Learn about the chart of accounts, parent/child budgeting and transfers, how to gain access to the system, how to navigate within PeopleSoft Financials, how to run your nVision budget reports and how to view the expenses that have posted to your department budget.

Intermediate Features in PeopleSoft Financials for Department Users -Only for those with PS Access

Learn about Budgets Overview, Drill Down Reports, the Voucher Feature and Secured Query.  Do you know how to get a quick view of your budget balance without running an nVision report?  How to see data from a previous fiscal year?  How to view an image of a paid invoice?  How to run a basic query?  Learn additional features to assist you in monitoring your department budget!

PeopleSoft Financials and Grant Reporting

This workshop is required for all those who are new to PeopleSoft Financials and who need access to their grant budgets.  Learn about the chart of accounts, budgets overview, parent/child budgeting, how to gain access to the system, how to navigate within PeopleSoft Financials, and how to run your nVision budget reports.

Accounts Payable

Learn about your purchasing options and spending authority; how to process invoices and vouchers and do payment approvals; and understand the different special payment types, office supply contracts, and restricted purchases.

Business Travel for the TU Employee

This workshop is required for the University Business Certificate and covers travel planning ideas plus the most current university business travel practices. It is in compliment to the Tiger Travel on-line training videos and goes beyond how to "fill out the forms". This workshop is presented at an introductory level and is available to all faculty/staff/coordinators who would like to attend.

Mileage Reimbursement Demonstration

Come see a demonstration on how to complete a mileage reimbursement log when submitting monthly or semester mileage reports. Travelers can bring their individual mileage scenarios and we will demonstrate how your scenario fits into the Standard Log and input the information into Tiger Travel.  This demonstration is specifically for travelers and/or coordinators who keep monthly, mid-semester, and semester long mileage detail.

Travel Coordinator Discussion Forum 

This discussion group is intended to support advanced travel coordinator training. Business Travel will bring tips, solutions, and ideas we hear most frequently on the support line and then open the floor to hear your questions and feedback. Come learn from other coordinator questions or bring your own challenges. We are here to find the solutions together and make the travel review process easier for everyone. Please feel free to attend as often as you like to strengthen or refresh travel coordinator reviewing skills.

Payroll's Student Employment Workshop 

This seminar is designed to aid faculty and staff involved in the hiring and/or supervising of student employees. The focus is on the actual "how-to" processes of interviewing and hiring a student employee, clearing the student employee through the Payroll Office, submitting timesheets, and ensuring the student receives paychecks.

ProCard Reallocation & Reconciliation System 

This is a "how-to" session that helps attendees learn to use the Web interface database program to access VISA charges, use the online system to make department and account (subcode) changes on purchases, reconcile transactions on VISA statements, and produce a printout of transactions that can be used as your permanent log. Contact procard@towson.edu to arrange for individual or group sessions.

Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) 

The UBIT course will supply participants with a basic understanding of what constitutes unrelated business income.  Topics that will be covered include: what activities can be classified as a trade or business, the difference between tax exempt and taxable income in the university setting, how the mission of the school affects classification of income, and the exclusions of income that are allowed under the UBIT definition.
