The Office of Student Financial Services advises and assists the TU community on:
On-Campus Student Employment Our office processes all on-campus student hires/ rehires and works closely with the Career Center and Office of Human Resources to assist departments and students regarding hiring federal, state and TU hiring policies and procedures.
International Students/Faculty/Staff & Nonresident Alien Taxes International students have federal authorization to only work only on-campus for up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Our office works closely with the International Student and Scholar Office and Office of Human Resources to process these hires, which includes conducting a tax analysis for each individual and ensuring proper tax withholding and reporting.. We also offer free resources and software to help ensure individuals meet their tax filing as part of maintaining their immigration status.
Making Payments to Other (Non-TU) Foreign Nationals For any payment made to individuals who are non-US Citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens our office is responsible for conducting a tax analysis in order to determine a person's tax status. Our office also determines the type of income for each payment to ensure proper tax withholding and reporting as part of institutional compliance with Internal Revenue Service regulations.
Financial Education. Our staff provides free programs and services to support students, parents, faculty and staff in navigating financial college finances. Topics include understanding funding your education, managing your student account, consolidating student loan debt, developing a spending plan, saving money on-campus, using credit wisely, and avoiding identity theft. Our office partners with many on-campus areas to provide this information including Academic Advising, SAGE, STEM, first-generation, and mature student groups.
