The Office of Student Financial Services advises and assists the TU community on important financial matters including:
On-Campus Student Employment Student Financial Services processes all on-campus student hires and rehires for students who work on-campus. Our office works closely with the Career Center and Office of Human Resources to assist departments and students regarding hiring policies and procedures.
International Students & Nonresident Alien Taxes International students have authorization to only work on-campus for up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Our office works closely with the International Student and Scholar Office and Office of Human Resources in order to process these hires, which includes conducting a tax analysis for each student. We also offer free resources and software to help ensure international students meet their tax filing as part of their immigration status requirement.
Making Payments to Foreign Nationals For any payment made to individuals who are non-US Citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens ( students and scholars) our office is responsible for conducting a tax analysis in order to determine a person's tax status. As part of this analysis, our office also determines proper tax withholding and reporting as part of maintaining institutional compliance per Internal Revenue Service federal regulations.
Financial Education. We provide free programs and services to support students, parents, faculty and staff in navigating financial college finances. Our office partners with many on-campus areas, such as Academic Achievement, SAGE, STEM, first-generation, and mature student groups. Topics covered are understanding funding your education, managing your student account, ensuring you have enough money to pay for required expenses, student loan debt , tips for saving money on-campus, using credit wisely, identity theft, savings and developing a spending plan on a student budget. Information is provided through course lectures, event tabling and individual coaching.
