student FINANCIAL SERVICES

The Office of Student Financial Services is part of the Business Services unit of Towson University.  Our mission is to implement on-campus and student training in order to improve the on-campus student hire process, maintain institutional NRA tax compliance and offer free financial education programs and services to faculty, staff, students and parents.

We assist the TU community with important financial matters and the multi-faceted areas we oversee include:

  • International Students & Foreign Nationals Taxes.  For any payment made to individuals who are non-US Citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens (foreign student and scholars) our NRA Tax Office conducts tax analysis and determines proper tax withholding and reporting as part of maintaining institutional compliance per Internal Revenue Service regulations..
  • Financial Education.  As a way to further support students in navigating financial matters which impact them during college, we offer free financial education programs and services which benefit students, parents and alumni.  Topics covered include financial aid, student loans, credit, identity theft, savings and budgeting.
  • Tax Preparation.  In collaboration with the College of Business and Economics, we provide a second on-campus site in the Administration Building.  We also finance a free tax preparation software specifically designed for our international community and offer it to them free of charge.
