Recycling Locations

Towson RecycALL containersOur campus contains more than 3,500 single-stream recycling containers that accept nearly all standard recyclables, including paper, cardboard, aluminum, glass, and any numbered plastic. The general locations of campus recycling containers are:

  • Lobbies of academic and administrative buildings
  • Entrances to dining halls
  • Trash chute rooms of residence halls
  • Campus offices
  • Stairwell entrances to parking garages
  • Campus exteriors, near trash cans
Central Recycling Drop Off Location

Towson University has formed a central recycling drop-off location for commuter students, faculty and staff to quickly and easily drop off large quantities of recyclables. Any standard recyclable (such as paper, plastic, aluminum, glass and cardboard) can be recycled in either of the two purple recycling drop off cubes located in the back corner of lot 14 near Unitas Stadium. The cubes are situated next to the dumpsters in what is the back left corner of the lot, closest to Sheppard Pratt. Commuter students, faculty and staff who do not have recycling at their residences are encouraged to bring their recycling to campus and drop it off at this location on their way to class or work. Lot 14 can be located on the interactive campus map.

Electronics Recycling Locations

Unwanted electronics can be recycled in dedicated containers located in the lobby of every campus residence hall. University-owned electronics should be recycled through Materiel Management. Before recycling, remove any batteries in the electronics and recycle them separately in the bins inside the residence hall community centers. For your safety, you should also wipe electronics of any data prior recycling them (OTS will do this for university-owned computers). When the bins are full, they will be picked up by campus housekeeping and stored for pickup by CDM, an alumni-owned e-cycling provider.

Battery Recycling Locations

Used non-vehicular batteries can be recycled in specific battery buckets in the community centers of every campus residence hall, as well as the locations listed below. Small batteries can also be mailed to the office of Environmental Health and Safety via campus mail. Please note that batteries should be discharged and/or placed in plastic bags prior to recycling.
