Climate Action Plan

We are developing a Climate Action Plan which will lay out the university's long-term vision for creating a more environmentally-friendly campus. The plan will incorporate feedback gathered from surveys and focus groups held with students, faculty and staff in spring 2011. The feedback will be used alongside research and guidance from the President's Climate Commitment Committee to establish major goals and initiatives for improving sustainability with regard to energy consumption, alternative transportation and student and educational programs.

The development of the Climate Action Plan began in March 2011 and is scheduled to be complete in January 2013. In the first phase, we collected data and information, soliciting input from the campus community and formulating observations about the current state of TU sustainability and natural resources. The second phase involved reviewing and synthesizing the collected data and input in order to create a summary of needs, which will was used to guide the development of plan schemes and alternatives for cost-benefit assessment. After study and assessment, a draft of the plan recommendations was presented to the university executive staff and the campus community for feedback, which will be used to shape the final plan presented to the executive staff for action.
