Retroactive Adjustments
When a delay occurs in the enrollment of a newly eligible employee or dependent, a retroactive adjustment to extend the effective date of coverage back to the actual date of eligibility can be made. Such cases may include a change in family status or a transfer from another state agency. Employees should notify the Benefits Unit as soon as the event has occurred. Retroactive adjustments must be submitted to the Maryland Department of Budget and Management Employee Benefits Division within 60 days of the qualifying event. Details about the Retroactive Adjustment process may be obtained by contacting the Benefits Unit.
