A FAQ page was created to answer all your TEC questions.
How do I register in a Certificate program or a Competency Focus?
Send an email to hrtraining@towson.edu and include: your name, department, and the title of the Certificate program and/or a Competency Focus you wish to complete.
Do I have to register for a certificate program?
No. A wide variety of training workshops are scheduled throughout the year. Register for one workshop or complete one of the professional development certificates that are offered.
How do I know if my registration has been confirmed?
The Training and Development unit will notify you via your TU email address of your confirmed registration. You will receive a reminder one week prior to the start date of your workshop.
Every effort is made to honor program requests. If a workshop is full, additional interested employees will be placed on a waiting list. If possible, additional sessions will be scheduled.
How do I cancel my registration?
If you are unable to attend a workshop, please contact the Training and Development unit at 410-704-6012 or send an email to hrtraining@towson.edu, at least three business days before the program.
Can you customize a workshop for our department?
Any of our workshops can be customized to meet departmental/work unit needs. Workshops can be tailored for a group’s specific requirements and issues, including a date, time, and location convenient for your work group. We can even identify a professional with an expertise to meet your training needs from internal and external resources.
This approach to training has many advantages, including being responsive to time constraints and specific concerns, and allowing employees to address problems and situations cooperatively in a way that promotes team building. For more information on departmental training contact: Mike Noll, 4-6015, mnoll@towson.edu.
How frequently are instructor-led workshops scheduled?
A number of workshops are offered annually and are noted in yellow below. However since we offer so many workshops, we make an effort to balance the workshops offered over a two year period to ensure certificate completion in a timely manner. Year One, noted in green below, will be scheduled for fall 2012 - spring 2013. Year Two, noted in pink below, are currently being offered fall 2011 - spring 2012.
A full list of workshops can be viewed, along with their descriptions, at our workshop descriptions link.

How do you track workshop completions?
Please sign in at each instructor-led workshop. The sign-in sheets are used to verifiy attendance. Your completion will be added in PeopleSoft, the Human Resources database. You will receive a certificate upon successful completion of an instructor-led workshop. We also ask that you keep a record of the workshops that you completed as well.
When you notice that you have completed a certificate program, please contact the Training and Development unit at 410-704-6012 or send an email to hrtraining@towson.edu to verify completion. Once verified, you will receive a framed certificate signed by the Training and Development Manager and the Vice President of your division.
