Report an Incident

What is an incident?

An incident is defined as a violation of Towson University's OTS Policies. Common violations of these policies include:

  • Unauthorized access to your account
  • Phishing scams that mimic Towson University
  • Viruses/Malware

Note: Contact Student Computing Services (for students) or The Faculty/Staff Help Center (for faculty and staff) to have your computer cleaned.  Information Security does not assist in cleaning your computer.

Report an incident to Information Security

If you suspect your computer is infected, you received a possible phishing email, or you beleive that someone else has fraudulently accessed your account, we would like to know.  This knowledge helps us protect Towson University.  Let us know by submitting a TechHelp service request.  When reporting an incident, please include the following:

  • Your name and NetID
  • Date and time you first noticed the malware/virus
  • Computer name (e.g. "Johns-PC")
  • Operating System (e.g. Windows 7)
  • Brief description of the incident - did you download something?  Did you download a file from a USB flash drive?
