SPSS Software Installation Procedures

The Office of Technology Services (OTS) provides annual licensing for SPSS at no charge for all university-owned Mac and Windows computers on campus. The university license is provided by a server and requires that the procedures below be followed for the software to run. For more information about SPSS at Towson, see the SPSS / SAS web site.

Requirements

• Computers must be university-owned to comply with license agreement
• SPSS is available for download and installation on desktop and laptop computers that are plugged into the Towson network (installation will not work over wireless connections).

Installation Instructions

1. Uninstall older versions of SPSS: it is recommended that before installing a new version of SPSS, that you first uninstall the older version as follows.
   
   Mac Uninstall: go to the Uninstalling IBM SPSS Statistics section of the SPSS document below for uninstall instructions.
   
   Windows Unistall: go to Start / Control Panel / Run Advertised Programs and select the appropriate uninstall package in , e.g. SPSS 19 - SPSS 19 Uninstall.

2. Mac Installation: To install SPSS on a university-owned Mac you need to go the Faculty/Staff downloads site for instructions, click here and log on to the site for download and installation instructions.
   
   

3. Windows Installation: go to Start / Control Panel / Run Advertised Programs and select the appropriate installation package in Run Advertised Programs from the table below.
