Software Distribution

Faculty and Staff

The Office of Technology Services is utilizing Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to distribute software to campus Windows computers.  One of the biggest advantages of software distribution is that anyone can install available packages on their computer without administrative permissions.  Below are two tables that show available software packages; Table 1 is the packages that all office computers should already have access to and Table 2 is a list of packages that are available by contacting the Help Center.  Some packages may require a purchase of a license before it can be installed. 

Software can be installed through the Run Advertised Programs link below.   Press the Run button after clicking on the link.  Software Distribution is only available to campus computers on the Towsonu domain that have the SCCM client installed.  If your computer does not have an SCCM client installed, contact the Help Center.

Apple QuickTime	7.7.1	This package installs QuickTime media player.  Used to view QuickTime movie files.  This package will get updated periodically.	No
Office 2007 Compatibility Pack		This package installs Office 2007 file formats to Office 2003 applications.  These file formats will allow user to save in Office 2007 formats within Office 2003 applications.	No
Snap Survey	10.0	This package installs Snap Survey which is used to create user surveys	No
SPSS	19.0	This package installs SPSS 19.0, which is a statistical analysis and data management application used throughout Towson University.  SPSS 19.0 utilizes a network license, so no individual licenses are required.	No
SPSS	18.0	This package installs SPSS 18.0, which is a statistical analysis and data management application used throughout Towson University.  SPSS 18.0 utilizes a network license, so no individual licenses are required.	No
nVision Add-on for Excel 2007 & 2010		This package will add a nVision add-on application for Microsoft Excel 2007 and 2010.  This package will also update two registry settings required for automatic installation and setup of the addon	No
Microsoft Silverlight	4.0	This package installs Microsoft Silverlight.  This application is a media streaming plugin for IE7 and IE8.  This package will get updated periodically.	No
Remote Desktop		This package installs configuration settings which allow users to remotely access their office computer from home or Virtual Workspace.  Please see instructions before installation.	No
Firefox	10.0	This package installs Mozilla Firefox.  This is a browser for accessing the Internet.	No
Mathematica	8.0.1	This package installs Mathematica 8.0.1, which is a mathematical algorithms software used throughout Towson University.  Mathematica is now utilizing a network license, so no individual licenses are required.	No
Microsoft Project	2010	This package installs Project 2010.  This application is used to create and manage projects.	No
Microsoft SharePoint Designer	2007	This package installs SharePoint Designer 2007.  This application is used to create and design web pages.	No
