Towson University’s Office of Technology Services provides training and support for the new phones. The OTS Telecom Help Desk (410-704-5151) continues to be your point for assistance with problems and phone configuration requests. OTS Training provides help sheets, video tutorials and online instructor led trainings to guide you through the use of the phone system’s new features.
The campus is currently undergoing a project to migrate from the current PBX telephone service, to a new network-based phone service - also known as VoIP. The new phone system includes useful features such as conferencing capabilities, a history feature that shows missed calls, speed dialing (which may be managed through the web) and voicemail delivered to your inbox. In this session, we will cover the following:
Handset Phone Features
Basic Phone Features
Voicemail (Setting Up and Retrieving)
Creating a Conference Call
Transferring and Forwarding Calls
Speed Dialing and Abbreviated Dialing
Recording Alternative Greeting via the Website
This session will be conducted online via a WebEx web conference. You will need a computer and an audio connection (either a headset or the speaker in your computer) to attend this training. The training will be a combination of live demonstrations and short videos. Audience questions will be taken via a chat window.
After registering, you will receive a link to the Webex session via email. You must run the WebEx Meeting Center Client through Run Advertised Programs ahead of your training session date. If you have a Mac, please send an email to training@towson.edu and someone will contact you with set up instructions.
