ResNet Resources & Support

Welcome to your ResNet resource online! The following links represent the information available on this site. If you seek an answer not included here, you may contact Student Computing Services (SCS) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 410-704-5151.

ResNet Connection & Reference Guide
ResNet Connection & Reference GuideThe ResNet Connection & Reference Guide is a 16-page booklet distributed to TU resident students during the Fall move-in period and available for download from this page. It contains step-by-step instructions for connecting a personal computer to the network port/switch in a residence hall room. It also describes how to set-up and work within the ResNet Clean Access system, and where to get technical support.

The content is appropriate for Macintosh users too, as the installation and login processes are generally the same on both platforms.

General ResNet Information
The Towson University Residential Network, or ResNet, is managed by the Office of Technology Services (OTS) and supported by Student Computing Services (SCS). As it stands, it is a wired network only; but OTS will be extending the university's wireless network into the residence halls sometime in 2009. ResNet service and support are currently available to students and staff in the following residence halls:

  • Glen Complex (AT, BT, CT, DT)

  • Richmond Hall (RI)

  • Newell Hall (NE)

  • Prettyman Hall (PR)

  • Scarborough Hall (SC)

  • Residence Tower (RT)

  • Ward Hall (WA)

  • West Hall (WE)

  • Towson Run Apartments (TR)

NTC Communications (1-888-201-8420)---rather than the university---provides Internet and cable television service and support to the non-staff residents of the following facilities:

  • Millennium Hall (MH)

  • Tubman House (TH)

  • Paca House (PH)

For Resident Assistants (RAs) and other residence staff in Millennium, Tubman and Paca, the university provides ResNet service and support.

Starting Fall 2008, students will access the ResNet through Cisco Clean Access, a gateway that requires computers to have up-to-date antivirus software and operating system patches before connecting, thus improving the performance, reliability and security of the ResNet.
