The Office of Technology Services (OTS) currently supports several different videoconferencing systems on campus and has been exploring new technologies through pilot programs. Before purchasing any videoconferencing solutions please consult with OTS first. The items below describe our current environment including pilot programs.
Group Videoconferencing Systems
o Polycom is a room-based solution that has been in use for many years on campus and can dial into other room based systems.
o Cisco C40/C60 systems are currently installed in several classrooms as part of pilot program. These systems are capable of both videoconferencing and lecture capture. Content recorded with these systems is stored in our centralized Show & Share portal. (Available in YR0401, LI0224, LI0206, ST0106, OP0209, and ZA0002)
Personal Videoconferencing systems
o Jabber clients are part of the Cisco pilot mentioned above. These software clients installed on a PC or Mac can make videoconference calls to existing physical endpoints and record both video and capture your desktop screen for posting on the Show & Share portal.
o WebEx is a web-based Cisco product that allows for videoconferencing between computers and collaboration tools such as screen sharing.
o Lync is the latest version of Microsoft Communicator and allows for both text based and video based communication between computers.
