Towson recently
introduced a new security policy to help protect confidential and sensitive information by requiring you to set a passcode (also referred to as a PIN code) on your mobile device if you want to use Towson University Exchange email. Without the passcode, a lost or stolen phone or tablet could easily create exposure or identity theft for you or the university.
Once you add your Towson email to your mobile device (personally-owned or university-owned) your device will prompt you to set a passcode.
What to do if your Mobile Device is lost or stolen
You can remotely wipe your Mobile Device using Outlook Web App (OWA), the same web application you use to check your Towson email. For instructions on how to do a remote wipe from OWA, click here.
If you have an university-owned device you should report the device lost or stolen to the university police.
If you have installed an activated the "Find My iPhone" app on your iPhone or iPad, you can use the app to locate the device, and to remotely wipe the device. Additional information about "Find My iPhone" is available on Apple's website located here.
