ResNet Connection & Reference Guide
The ResNet Connection & Reference Guide is a booklet
distributed to TU resident students during the Fall move-in period and
available for download from this page. It contains step-by-step
instructions for connecting a personal computer to the campus wired and
wireless networks. It also describes how to set-up
and work within the Cisco NAC (Network Access Control) system, and where to get
technical support.
General ResNet Information
The Towson University Residential Network, or ResNet, is managed
by the Office of Technology Services (OTS) and supported by Student
Computing Services (SCS). Students access the secure ResNet through Cisco
NAC, a gateway that requires computers to have up-to-date
antivirus software and operating system patches before connecting; this
system improves the performance, reliability and security of the entire
campus network. ResNet service and support are
currently available to students and staff in the following
residence halls:
-
Glen Complex (AT, BT, CT, DT)
-
Richmond Hall (RI)
-
Newell Hall (NE)
-
Prettyman Hall (PR)
-
Scarborough Hall (SC)
-
Residence Tower (RT)
-
Ward Hall (WA)
-
West Hall (WE)
-
Towson Run Apartments (TR)
-
Barton House (BA)
-
Douglass House (DO)
Wireless coverage is described on the TU Wireless Networking pages.
NTC Communications (1-888-201-8420)---rather than the university---provides Internet and cable television service and support to the non-staff residents of the following facilities:
-
Millennium Hall (MH)
-
Tubman House (TH)
-
Paca House (PH)
For Resident Assistants (RAs) and other residence staff in Millennium, Tubman and Paca, the university provides ResNet service and support.
