Policies and procedures regarding campus telecommunication networks and services can be found below. Information regarding specific Telecommunications services can be obtained through the OTS Networking and Communications Web site and is available in the Towson University Networking and Communications Department Policies and Procedures Manual. Common Telecommunication terms and definitions are provided at the conclusion of the policies.
Departmental phone coordinators are responsible for updating the online phone directory. Coordinators who are having difficulty updating the directory should contact the Telecom Help Center at 410-704-5151(option #1) for assistance.
Requesting a new telephone extension/port
To request a new telephone extension or port, have your departmental phone coordinator contact the Telecom Help Center. For data or telephone port requests, you should indicate whether the request is for a data connection, voice connection or both, and let us know the building, room number and location in the room where you would like the port installed; the name and telephone number of a contact person for the request; and your departmental budget code. For extension requests, you should indicate whether the extension should have voicemail, direct dialing, or be part of intercom group; any dialing restrictions such as campus only, local only, or national only; what name to appear on the phone's display; and any roll-over requests for the extension.
