OTS Training offers self-help documents, movie tutorials and workshops. View our Workshop Calendar to register for a workshop.  If you don't see the training you are looking for, please complete our survey and tell us about your training needs.

 

Workshops

OTS Training offers a variety of workshops on technology topics to faculty, staff and students. The workshops calendar lists the description, location and the different times a workshop is offered.

Registration is required to attend a workshop. If you are unable to attend a workshop that you have registered for, please contact OTS Training 48 hours in advance at: training@towson.edu or 410-704-4070. All workshops are held in Cook Library. When you register, the training room location is included with each workshop.

Self-Help Training Documents

Go to the OTS Training documentation page and download self-help documentation guides that walk you through different features of software applications. To use the Read Out Loud feature, save and then open the .PDF document, click on the View menu and choose Read Out Loud. This page is an ongoing work in progress. For other nonprofit use, please see the copyright information.

Traveling Trainers

OTS Training brings technology professionals and training resources to your doorstep.  Departments can request Traveling Trainers to visit their office or building for a two to three hour session, in which employees can drop in with questions for their individual needs. Trainers bring five laptops to set up in an area convenient to your office that you make available. Towson Unplugged wireless networking allows for network access at a variety of places. Call 410-704-4070 or e-mail training@towson.edu to set up a time for Traveling Trainers to visit your building.

The Microsoft Office training site offers Online Training Demos that will walk you through step-by-step processes.

Human Resources Online TEC Training Library

Towson University's eLearning Center offers faculty and staff more than 2,500 courses that can be taken online 24/7. 

Lynda.com

An extensive online software training tutorial video library. This video collection is available 24/7 on such packages as Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Flash for both PC and Mac. Contact Rodney Urand (rurand@towson.edu) for a 7 day license and login instructions.

Macintosh Training

Towson University offers basic Mac training for faculty, staff, and students; see the Workshop Calendar for scheduled workshops. Additional help and training information for Macs are listed on the Apple Resources page of the university Mac Corner web site.

 

Online Learning

Towson University offers Online Software Training through CustomGuide. Thousands of online tutorials provide quick answers to all your software questions.

To access the training:

1. Visit http://login.customguide.com/TowsonUniversity
2. Click the Create Account button on the right hand side.
3.
Fill in the fields and click the Register button. That's it!
4.
Choose a course on the left hand side of the screen.
5.
When you have completed the training, please be sure and click the Sign Out button in the upper right hand corner of the window. We have 3 concurrent licenses for this training and it is important to sign out to allow others access.
