Eco-Reps: Peer Environmental Education Program

Eco-Reps are a team of peer-educators committed to building a sustainable future. The Eco-Reps work with the Office of Civic Engagement & Leadership and the Office of Sustainability.

Eco-Reps plan events with sustainability themes in their residence hall, promote sustainability initiatives across campus, and connect their peers to environmental student groups, staff and faculty. Eco-Reps have the opportunity take part in workshops, field trips, and leadership training that prepare them for sustainability careers in the future.



Eco-Reps will devote 3-4 hours a week to:

  • Attend weekly Eco-Rep meetings

    • Guest speakers

    • Workshops and leadership training

    • Working in project teams

  • Work in teams on year-long projects with tangible, meaningful results in the following areas:

    • Waste & Recycling

    • Sustainable Energy

    • Alternative Transportation

    • Water Conservation & Management

  • Help plan and run campus-wide events

    • Campus Sustainability Day

    • Recyclemania

    • Energy Conservation Contest

    • Envirofest

  • Present to student groups, classes, and other campus audiences on how to "go green" on campus

  • Collaborate with President's Climate Commitment (PCC) committee members to reduce our carbon footprint

  • Engage fellow students on sustainability topics through creative events, activities, and social media posts
