The
Professional Development Grant was established to provide a
Towson University alumna/us an opportunity to enhance their
professional development related to their career field.
The grant,
awarded annually, provides financial assistance to a Towson
University alumna/us who has received an undergraduate or
graduate degree from the University.
The funds
may be used for conference registration, tuition for an
undergraduate or graduate class in the applicant’s work related
field, membership fees in a professional organization or other
career enhancement opportunities.
Up to
$1000.00 awarded annually
The selected recipient or a designee is expected to attend a recognition event in the fall.
Application Process:
Along with a completed application, include a resume, letter of recommendation from a supervisor or
professional mentor, proof of employment* (if currently employed) and a one to two page summary of the professional development experience
you are planning to pursue and how this will assist you in your
current job and/or position. The following information should
be included in the summary:
Indicate what direct benefit this grant will have on your career path.
Expected outcomes for the professional
development experience.
Amount of grant funding requested (The grant
request cannot exceed $1000.00).
*Examples of proof of employment include: a business card, letter from your supervisor or Human Resource Department on company letterhead, or a photocopy of your employment identification card.
Upon
completion of your professional development activity you are
required to submit a one page report on the value of the
experience.

Selection
Process A
selection committee, appointed by the Alumni Association Board
of Directors, will select the recipient.
Award and
Recognition Recipients
will be notified in February.
Current
members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors are not
eligible for this award.
