TOWSON ADVOCACY PROGRAM (TAP)
Dear Towson University Alumni and Friends:
Last night SB402 Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) Review of Duplicative Academic Programs came to the Senate floor for a vote. Thank you for your calls and advocacy. The bill was defeated with a vote of 28 opposed and 17 in support of the legislation. Please join me in thanking our senators for their vote against SB402. Senators can be reached via the Senate switchboard at 410-841-3000 or go to http://mdelect.net to find your senator.
Program availability in higher education is a key element in keeping Maryland globally competitive. Cooperation among institutions can help in the achievement of that goal. Our higher education institutions need the flexibility to respond to the changing environment, technology and marketplace and timely program review done by the Maryland Higher Education Commission is the best way to achieve this goal. Maryland's students and employers are fortunate to have such an expansive higher education system equipped with a wide selection of offerings to meet their needs. The diversity of our two year, four year, public and private institutions are what make Maryland a leader in higher education.
Thank you for your action in support of Towson University and our students.
Sincerely,

Robert L. Caret
President
