Student Government Association

Towson's Student Government Association (SGA) is a student organization that functions to serve the students of the university. Members of the SGA wear numerous hats, whether they are meeting with administrators, participating in various university committees, advocating for student services, or planning major events including the homecoming pep rally, they are always working towards the goal of providing students with the best experience during their time at TU.

The SGA has had many recent accomplishments including: providing discount cards from local businesses to over 5,000 students, supporting a Medical Amnesty/Responsible Action Protocol, hosting four football tailgates and a homecoming pep rally for over 1,000 students; and participating in dozens of community service programs such as: Project Hope House and Alex's Lemonade Stand. Capital Budget (Fiscal Year 2013) HB 86 and SB 151

Towson University priorities include preserving the overall University System operating budget, TU operating budget of $91.6 million and TU capital budget funding of $19.5 million included in the FY2013 budget. Capital budget funding for the TU campus includes:

 

Smith Hall Addition & Renovations - $5.7 million allotted in FY2013 for initial planning. Recognizing current inadequacies, the five year project includes major additions and renovations to meet existing academic needs as well as addressing future enrollment growth.

 

Campus Safety & Circulation (Phase II) - $13.8 million allotted in FY2013 for continued campus infrastructure and utilization improvements. Notably, construction of the pedestrian bridge over Osler Drive connecting the West Village residential campus to the main campus.
