Best Buddies Towson
Best Buddies is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing one-to-one friendship for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization has active chapters in all 50 states and in 50 countries worldwide that impact nearly 700,000 individuals. One hundred of those individuals are members of the Best Buddies Chapter at Towson University. This year, Best Buddies Towson has 18 "buddy pairs" with buddies from the Towson Pride Life Skills Program and the Center for the Adults with Autism program. Best Buddies has monthly events for members, such as laser tag and bowling, and gets involved with the community by holding a canned food drive for Moveable Feast. Because of the immense impact Best Buddies Towson has made on members and the community, the chapter has been awarded as the Maryland College Chapter of the Year for the past two years. College Buddy Director Jaynie Jones believes, "The best part of Best Buddies is seeing all the members having fun with one another and creating real friendships. For me, that's what it's all about."
