Dear TAP members:

During this legislative session, the Maryland General Assembly was unable to pass a balanced budget with the necessary funding package provided by Governor O'Malley to keep quality public higher education affordable and accessible in Maryland. Unless the General Assembly reconvenes in a special session the contingent budget cuts known as the "Doomsday Budget" will go into effect. They will have serious consequences for higher education and Towson University with cuts to the University System potentially reaching as high as $50 million. We ask that you consider contacting the Governor, budget leaders and your Legislators urging them to convene a special session and keep higher education affordable.

The link below to USM's Government Relations page will allow you to customize a letter regarding higher education funding and send it directly to the Governor, your legislator as well as priority budget leaders.

Please visit: http://www.usmd.edu/usm/legislative_relations/ and look for "TAKE ACTION NOW." Any questions regarding our legislative relations in Annapolis should be directed to Sean P. Flanagan, Assistant to the President for Governmental Relations, at sflanagan@towson.edu.

Thank you for your continued support of Towson University and preserving the quality and affordability of higher education in our state.

Dr. Maravene Loeschke
President, Towson University
