Benefits Bulletin: Tuition Remission Update- Summer 2007 Deadlines
Towson University’s Bursars Office is now accepting tuition remission requests for Towson’s 2007 summer sessions until Friday, June 1. Tuition remission benefits for the summer sessions are limited to a maximum of eight credits, over the entire summer, for both eligible full time employees and any eligible spouses/dependent children. Please note that 1:1 courses such as advanced studio and private lessons, self-support programs such as computer certification courses, College of Education closed contract courses and courses offered through the Center for Applied Information Technology and the Towson Learning Network are currently excluded from the tuition remission program at Towson.
Deadlines and other limitations/restrictions announced by other USM institutions are:
University of Maryland, College Park: Full time employees are eligible for a maximum of 6 credit hours taken in either session or spread out over both sessions. Eligible spouses/dependent children are entitled to a maximum of 4 credit hours, which may be taken in either session or spread out over both sessions. Deadlines for acceptance of all tuition remission forms are June 4 for summer session I and July 16 for summer session II. A separate request form is required for each session. Certain programs offered at UMCP are excluded from the tuition remission benefit including Summer Programs for High School Students, Young Scholars, UMEI courses, Math 0XXX-Intermedial Math courses and Freshman Connection. Also, UMCP limits graduate level remission benefits to a maximum of $411 per credit hour; the student would have to pay the difference between that figure and the full cost of any graduate program that charges more per credit hour (e.g. MBA programs).
University of Maryland University College: UMUC will accept remission requests for summer 2007 up to Monday, July 16. However once the student registers they have 10 days to pay their bill so remission requests should be submitted prior to registration if possible.
University of Baltimore: Tuition remission requests for their summer 2007 session must be received at UB no later than Tuesday, June 12.
Tuition remission request forms are available from both Towson’s Office of Human Resources and the Bursars Office as well as under the Forms section of the OHR Benefits website at http://wwwnew.towson.edu/adminfinance/hr/benefits/index.asp. All requests for tuition remission at Towson or at any of the other USM schools or other participating institutions must be returned to Towson’s OHR for certification and processing.
