Beware of Fraud Email Claiming to be from FDIC
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has alerted us of a fraudulent email circulating the internet claiming to be from the FDIC. The email asks you to “visit the official FDIC Web site” and gives you a bogus address. Going to the Web site can download malicious software on your computer. The FDIC and OTS recommends not opening any suspicious emails claiming to be from the FDIC. We ask that you delete such emails.
For more information about the fraud, contact the FDIC directly at http://www.fdic.gov. Helpful information can also be found on the OTS Information Security Web site. Contact the OTS Help Desk if you have questions at 410-704-5151.
