Towson University Daily Digest H1N1 Vaccine Clinics

Towson University has received its first allotment of H1N1 vaccine. Since a very limited supply has been received, a plan for distributing the first allotment of vaccine was developed by the Pandemic Flu Response Committee and approved by members of the President’s Council based on the priority groups identified by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). While we fully understand that not everyone who wishes vaccination will be able to obtain it at these first clinics, we anticipate that we will receive more vaccine later this fall, at which time additional clinics will be scheduled.
Please note: People who have had H1N1 flu confirmed by a laboratory test are considered immune and will not need the vaccine.

Clinic #1: Nov. 2, 2 pm – 6 pm – Burdick Hall, Gym 1
Eligible for vaccination:
1. Pregnant students, staff and faculty - must provide valid TU One Card and verification of pregnancy from a Health Care Provider.
2. Students, faculty, and staff who are the primary caregiver for an infant <6 months of age – must provide a valid TU One Card and an infant birth certificate or other documentation of infant age.
3. Health professional students and clinical preceptors with direct patient contact working in hospitals and other clinical settings. Eligible students will be contacted by their department (Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant Program, etc.) and must provide a valid TU One Card.

Clinic #2: Nov. 4, 7:30 am – 2:00 pm – Burdick Hall, Gym 1 - while supplies last
Eligible for vaccination:
1. Degree-seeking students ≤ 64 years of age with a documented serious chronic medical condition such as: asthma or other chronic lung disease; heart, liver or kidney disease; blood disorder such as sickle cell anemia; neurological disorder such as epilepsy, stroke, brain injury; neuromuscular disorder such as Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis; or a compromised immune system from immune-suppressing medications or diseases like cancer, HIV/AIDS.
Students must present a valid TU One Card and a state-issued ID or Driver’s License to verify age and must sign a consent form verifying their condition.

Vaccines will be given free of charge.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. Again, we anticipate receiving more vaccine later this semester and will plan additional clinics.
