Intentional Advising
The Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education practices Intentional Advising. This means that every art, art education, and art history major is required to be advised at least once each term. However, students are encouraged to meet with their adviser throughout the term. Advising is necessary for planning a timely progression through a major and concentration, to learn about internships and portfolio development, and to gain perspective and knowledge about careers and opportunities. In addition, advisers lift registration holds before enrollment can occur each term.
The Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education uses e-mail to contact majors and minors about advising, news and events, registration dates, and other topics. Students must use their Towson University e-mail account to stay current with news and announcements. If students are not receiving e-mails from the art office, they should contact
Ginger (Lynne) Ross, at gross@towson.edu.
Freshmen will be assigned a First Year Experience (FYE) adviser in the department. Professors Jocelyn Curtis and Erika Bradford will serve as FYE advisers. At the end of the second term of the first year, students are assigned an adviser in their major or concentration by the art department's administrative assistant,
Ginger (Lynne) Ross, gross@towson.edu. Students will receive an e-mail with the name and location of their major or concentration adviser. The adviser will be notified as well.
Admitted transfer students are advised to meet with their major adviser, to review their transcripts and discuss their interests, within the first month of their arrival to Towson University. Transfer students are assigned an adviser in their major or track by Ms. Ross.
Students minoring in art are advised each term by the Ginger Ross. Appointments can be made by e-mailing the request to gross@towson.edu.
Please see the art adviser list for a complete listing and contact information.
Majors in the Department of Art + Design, Art History, and Art Education can locate their assigned adviser by contacting
