Intentional Advising

faculty and staff work with students during the advising period

The Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education practices Intentional Advising. This means that every art, art education, and art history major is required to be advised at least once each term. However, students are encouraged to meet with their adviser throughout the term. Advising is necessary for planning a timely progression through a major and concentration, to learn about internships and portfolio development, and to gain perspective and knowledge about careers and opportunities. In addition, advisers lift registration holds before enrollment can occur each term.

The Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education uses e-mail to contact majors and minors about advising, news and events, registration dates, and other topics. Students must use their Towson University e-mail account to stay current with news and announcements. If students are not receiving e-mails from the art office, they should contact Ginger (Lynne) Ross, at

The adviser will be notified as well.

Admitted transfer students are advised to meet with their major adviser, to review their transcripts and discuss their interests, within the first month of their arrival to Towson University. Transfer students are assigned an adviser in their major or track by Ms. Ross.
