Center for the Arts Gallery
The Center of the Arts Gallery is a premier exhibition space, rivaling many museum spaces. Curator, Susan Isaacs, and Gallery Director, Christopher Bartlett, schedule several exhibitions each year and summer. Exhibitions include important living artists of the past forty years, as well as emerging artists, and students. Gallery hours are Tuesday–Saturday, 11–4.

Illustration: A Historical Look
Feb. 8–March 7
Opening Reception: Thursday, Feb. 7, 7:30–9 p.m.
Spanning the 20th century, this comprehensive exhibition of historical
illustration includes 500 original masterworks from the permanent
collection of the Society of Illustrators Museum of American Illustration.
Works represent each decade from 1890–2000, demonstrating the evolution
of the illustrator’s role in society. Included in the exhibit are early
black-and-white illustrations created by Gibson and Raleigh, juicy story
illustrations by LaGatta, Tepper, Cornwell and Helck, advertisements
for cigarettes, automobiles and travel, 1950s story art by Whitmore,
Whitcomb and Bowler, and works by the current stars of today, such as
Kelley, Duillo, Fuchs and Hooks. |

Margo Allman and Judith Ingram
Staying the Course
March 14–April 19
Opening Reception: Thursday, March 13, 7:30–9 p.m.
Artists Margo Allman and Judith Ingram came to age
as professional artists in the 1950s at a time when it
was difficult for women to achieve success as professionals
and to combine a career and family. They are
no 75 and 80 years of age, respectively, and continue
to work in mixed materials, in two and three dimensions.
Both artists create in an abstract idiom and
continue to develop and explore. |

a broad range of artistic explorations
