General Screening Process
The Bachelor Of Fine Arts Degree in Art + Design is a competitive and screened major. Interested students declare a Bachelor of Science concentration in their first year, and undergo screening by the specific BFA concentration at the end of the term in which the screening prerequisites will be completed (usually in the student’s fourth term). Admission into Towson University and declaration of an Art + Design BS/BA concentration does not guarantee acceptance into the BFA Program. Requirements for application and admission to the BFA program in Art + Design are:
Successful completion of first level foundations and second level foundations specific for the concentration or a minimum of 39 units in the major
A minimum of 2.67 G.P.A. in the major.
A portfolio review (students obtain portfolio requirements for each BFA concentration from the department office or their adviser)
Students should obtain application forms, deadlines, and other screening information from the department office (CA 3103) before final examinations during the semester in which they will become eligible to apply. Students not granted admission may reapply once.
