MFA candidate, Josh Gillen, builds structural objects or environments, as well as creates animals and human forms. His work integrates wood joints, resembling the living joints of the knee or elbow, which Gillen uses to anthropomorphize wooden objects. The structural elements suggest his experience as a carpenter’s assistant and are meant to feel like structures for human occupation or use.
