Speech-Language Pathology Services

	Towson University students provide services under the direct supervision of our highly qualified clinical staff and faculty.

The Speech, Language and Hearing Center provides a full range of speech-language pathology services. Children and adults can be evaluated at the Center, or receive individual or group speech and language treatment. Speech and language evaluation and treatment services are available for the following areas of concern.

• Articulation (difficulty with pronunciation)
• Developmental Delays (delayed early milestones)
• Cleft Lip and Palate
• Fluency/Stuttering
• Voice (chronic hoarseness, raspiness, laryngitis, etc.)
• Autism/PDD
• Oral Motor (difficulty coordinating the tongue and lips)
• Developmental Apraxia of Speech
• Down Syndrome
• Language Comprehension (difficulty understanding others)
• Language Expression (difficulty communicating to others)
• Auditory Processing
• Brain Injury
• Language and Literacy (difficulty with phonics, language-based reading or learning disorders, difficulty with reading comprehension)
• Aphasia (speech and language disorders following a stroke)
• Apraxia of speech
• Dementia/Cognitive Communication Disorders
• Speech and language disorders related to neurological conditions

Preschool Speech and Language Program

The Speech, Language and Hearing Center runs a preschool speech and language program for children ages 3 to 6 who need intensive speech and language services in a small group setting. Occupational Therapy services are also provided as part of the program. This program runs in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Stroke Survivor's Group

Patients who survived a stroke and their families are invited to campus one evening each month for support and sharing. Faculty and students from nursing, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology run the program. Contact the Center for more information.

Adult Stuttering Group

Adults who stutter are invited to campus for monthly evening meetings with fellow stutterers. Faculty and students from speech-language pathology provide help with fluency, maintenance, and an opportunity for group support. Contact the Center for more information.

Speech, Language and Hearing Screenings
Screening programs are provided for area preschools, parent groups, senior centers, community events, and other organizations. Contact the Center for more information.
