College of Health Professions

Department of Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology and Deaf Studies

Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Major

Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology were recently listed as "Hot Careers in Health Care" by U.S. News & World Report. Both professions are in high demand and should remain that way for many years to come. The department offers a pre-professional B.S. degree to prepare students for graduate study in either field. The graduate degree then prepares students for work in a wide variety of professional settings including schools, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation programs, and private practice.

Over 80% of our undergraduate classes are taught by full-time faculty with fewer than 30 students per class. Students move through the program in cohort groups which facilitates team work and cooperative learning. During the final semester of study, clinical practicum experiences are available in our on-campus Speech, Language and Hearing Center for seniors who meet the pre-requisites.

The department also offers a combined major in Deaf Studies and Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology.
